Rainbow Trace and Count
Practice writing numbers 1-20.
Our children enjoy tracing numbers and writing neatly especially with other writing utensils other than crayons.
Directions:
1. Print the resource
2. Prepare crayons, colored pencils, and or different colored pens
3. Have your child write their name on the top using different colors, neatly!
4. Have your child trace the numbers using the colors of the rainbow (ROY G. BIV--red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet.)
5. Ask your child to read the number aloud as they trace
6. Talk about strokes and number formation--this will surely help with flipping numbers
ex: 3 starts on the top left... "half way around and around again, half way around and around again" (They love the numbers song)
7. After tracing all the numbers, tell them that you need their help!
"HELP, I FORGOT WHAT GOES AFTER 10. What's after 10? Continue with all the missing numbers.
8. After completion, talk about how beautiful and colorful their writing is.
"WOW, are you sure you're a kindergartner? You write better than dad (sorry dad). Sprinkle yourself with SMARTICLE GLITTERS" (They usually laugh and giggle when I have them do this)
